The 2006 match will also be hosting the first USPSA 1911 Division Nationals. So how does this effect the Single Stack Classic? Well there are a few differences in the rules that USPSA uses and the 1911 Society. Nothing real major different and most of the competitors will not even notice any changes from other years. But there are a few things that have come up that may need to be clarified. If you haven’t looked at the USPSA 1911 Single Stack rules this is the link. http://www.uspsa.org/rules/1911_Single_Stack.pdf

1: USPSA rules do not allow slide lightening. But what would be considered slide lightening? If you went by the letter of the rules even changing the sights that requires machining the slide would be lightening the slide. Or how about flatting the slide top? Would beveling the bottom of the slide so it doesn’t cut your hand be disallowed? Well there needs to be some common sense used here. All of the above listed modifications would be allowed by the USPSA rules. But if as an example you mill holes or slots in the slide just to remove weight this would be a violation of the rules. So use some common sense about this and you shouldn’t have any problem.

2: Holsters….. I don’t believe there is any clear way to define a carry type holster. IDPA has even given up on having a approved holster list. There a few things that would disqualify a holster from this match. If it has a drop loop. The front of the holster is more then a ¼ inch open below the ejection port of the gun. It has a way to be adjusted for cant or swivel. If the holster holds the gun more then an inch from the shooters body. If you are not sure about the holster you are planning on using email me a photo of it or send me a link to a web page showing the holster and I will make a ruling. This would make things allot easier on all of us then showing up at the match with a holster that you can’t use.

An example of a type holster                                      Example of types of  holsters that would be expectable

that would not be expectable under 1911 Society Rules.

Holster rules for the USPSA Single Stack Division will continue as written through 2006.

The BOD felt it was in the best interest of the growth of 1911 Single Stack Division to not change any rules

before 2007 if at all possible. The BOD is gathering data throughout 2006 to revise the rules for 2007 to keep

the purpose and design of 1911 Single Stack Division from being diluted.

Expect changes in 2007.

Michael Voigt

USPSA President.

3: Tungsten Guide Rods…. USPSA rules do not allow them. So as long as USPSA Nationals and the SSC are the same match you will not be able to use them. The 1911 Society rules would still allow them at any match as long as it does not have USPSA sanction.

4: The pistol with empty magazine inserted must fit in the standard IPSC box as presented in the current edition of the USPSA rule book. The 1911 Society rules do not require the magazine be inserted. We will be using the USPSA rules so as long as USPSA Nationals and the SSC are the same match you will need to have the magazine in the gun if it’s checked for size.
